A Place for Every Explorer

8 Acorns is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit outdoor recreation area in Cleburne County, Alabama, dedicated to making camping and outdoor activities accessible to families of disabled Veterans and individuals with mental, physical, or medical disabilities. As a mission-driven organization, we provide recreation and support programs for people living with disabilities, their families, and survivors. Our goal is to create inclusive opportunities for everyone to enjoy the outdoors while building community, skills, and confidence—regardless of ability or circumstance.

Activities & Experiences

At 8 Acorns, visitors can enjoy camping cabins, fishing, hunting, and a variety of other outdoor activities that are continuously evolving. As a nonprofit organization, we are also developing educational programs for campers and partner facilities, support groups, and accessible outdoor recreation resources. A hostel cabin is available for hikers and bicyclists near the Pinhoti Trail and Hwy 281. All proceeds directly support 8 Acorns’ nonprofit mission, helping us expand access and create more inclusive outdoor experiences for those we serve.

Our Journey

Founded in 2023, 8 Acorns was established as a nonprofit organization born from a family’s passion for the outdoors and a desire to make it accessible to others. Our logo reflects our family tree, with the eight acorns representing our grandchildren and the hopes we have for their growth and legacies. The vision began in November 2022 with a focus on helping individuals with limited access experience the outdoors. Through determination and faith, our family brought this vision to life—creating a welcoming, nonprofit space where everyone, especially those with disabilities, can connect with nature, community, and opportunity.
